Do you use mothballs to keep your sweaters and knits safe from being destroyed by moths and their larvae? Simply put: Don't. Mothballs are made entirely from a chemical called naphthalene, and they slowly turn from a solid "ball" into a chemical vapor. In other words, if you can smell mothballs, you're inhaling a chemical insecticide. Try natural repellants like cedar chips, or create a sachet with dried herbs such as rosemary, thyme and bay leaves.
