Did you know less than 10% of all plastics are recycled and the rest are landfilled? For hard-to-recycle plastics, like yogurt containers marked with a No. 5 recycling sign, the number is even lower. If you love yogurt, one easy switch is to look for glass yogurt containers instead of plastic. Since glass can be infinitely recycled (and glass is three to four times more recycled in the U.S.), it's a greener choice. Even the metal lid on a glass yogurt container is recyclable, making it a zero-waste product versus plastic.

Did you know that fleas don't like caffeine? It's a chemical that many plants produce as a natural insecticide, which means your leftover coffee is an excellent beverage to use to bathe your pet. Just give them a normal bath and add leftover coffee. It'll help de-flea your pet, and it will also deodorize them, since the nitrogen in coffee is effective at deodorizing their fur. When the bath is finished, just rinse as normal.

According to a paper published by Washington University, a gas-powered leaf blower emits nearly 300 times the amount of air pollutants of a pickup truck. It also found that just one hour of using a gas-powered lawn mower is equal to driving a car over 100 miles. The solution? Look for high-powered electric alternatives that don't rely on gas for power. Also, skip the leaf blower altogether; when leaves fall, just mow right over them to break them down so they degrade quickly into nutrient-rich mulch for your lawn.
