Both prescription eyewear and sunglasses over time can stretch out and no longer fit snugly on your face. Trying to bend the plastic frames to fit again can be risky; this can warp the frame, or worse, it can snap and destroy your glasses. Since plastic is more flexible when it's warm, try this trick. Use a hair dryer to heat up the eyeglass frames, and when they are warm, mold the frame back into shape. The frame does not need to be scorching hot to be more flexible; just warm to the touch is enough to get the frames to feel custom again.

Do you want your stainless steel sink looking like brand-new? All you need is a little elbow grease and some leftover flour. Yes, the same flour you use to make biscuits and cookies can buff and shine your sink. It works because the flour dust gets into the small grooves of the stainless steel and draws up dirt, grime and grease that basic soap can't reach. The key thing is this: Start with a very dry sink, because any residual water will turn flour into glue. Then buff away with flour, rinse, wipe and voila! New sink.

Did you whip up a bunch of scrambled eggs or frittatas for a crowd this morning? Don't toss the eggshells away. Rinse and allow the eggshells to air-dry first. For tough-to-clean things with a narrow opening -- like a dirty bottle or vase -- crush eggshells and put inside. Then add soapy warm water and shake; the shells will act as an abrasive to help the soapy water get the inside clean. You can also add dry and clean eggshells to your bird feeder; birds benefit from the natural calcium of the shells. And finally, the easiest: Eggshells are fully compostable and a great addition to your compost.
