Have some overripe bananas? When bananas are beyond the point of being edible, don’t toss them into the compost. Instead, mash them up, add a few tablespoons of sugar with a little bit of olive oil and mix. Rub the mixture all over your body to exfoliate dead skin and moisturize; the bananas and olive oil are incredibly beneficial in quenching dry skin, and the sugar aids exfoliation. Rinse away in the shower to reveal soft, radiant skin.

When it’s time to replace the headlights in your car, why not give it a green upgrade with your lighting choice? Cars typically come with energy-hogging halogen bulbs for illumination, which draw power from your car’s battery. New LED headlights -- which are ultra-bright and last an extremely long time, just like LED lightbulbs for home lamps -- use less energy. On average, LEDs use just one-third of the energy demanded by halogen bulbs. While most cars are designed to accept halogen bulbs, LED kits are available to easily retrofit your car’s headlights for the new technology.

When you’re done burning a scented candle at home, do you ever wonder how to clean out the bottom portion of stuck-in wax? For any container holding a candle -- glass, metal, ceramic, etc. -- all you have to do is pop it in the freezer overnight. Freezing the wax forces it to shrink and pull away from the container. Just remove the container from the freezer, place it upside down and tap the bottom firmly with your hand. The disc of wax will pop out to reveal a virtually clean container ready to be upcycled into whatever you want.
