Here's one reason to keep a can of tuna in your car: If you've ever seen a lost (and scared) dog or cat who runs the risk of being hit by a car, the best thing you can do to help is to try to lure the animal into your car. If you feel the animal is not a risk to you, the strong smell of fish can entice it to trust you and jump into your car. Be sure to have a can of tuna that doesn't need a can opener. When you do have the animal in your car, bring it to an animal shelter to be scanned for a microchip.

It may seem harmless, but those little stickers you find on fruits and vegetables can wreak havoc on drains and at wastewater treatment plants. Before washing fruits and veggies, take the time to remove the stickers and put them in the trash. When they accidentally get washed down the drain, their adhesive can stick inside drains and pipes. If they get past that point, they get caught in screens and filters at water treatment plants. It may not seem like a big deal, but if you think about the amount of produce that's stickered, it adds up.

Have a broken desktop computer that looks like a relic from the past? You can help support the good works of Goodwill and get rid of the computer at the same time. Goodwill has partnered with Dell through the Dell Reconnect program to recycle old computers, hard drives, monitors, keyboards and printers for free. All you do is box it up and bring it to any Goodwill that accepts donations. The staff will sort through it and determine whether it can be refurbished, reused or recycled.
