Is bubble wrap recyclable? It sure is, and it's easy to do. First, if you have old bubble wrap, consider reusing it the next time you need to ship something fragile. But if the bubble wrap is past its prime, do this: Pop the bubbles first. Then take the flattened plastic to any recycling bin that accepts plastic shopping bags for recycling. It's the same type of plastic, so you can be sure it will be recycled.

If you use an ink jet printer at home, you know those replacement cartridges can cost a lot of money. One way to extend the life of the ink cartridges is to check if the cartridge is actually low on ink. Most cartridges have an internal mechanism that monitors usage when you insert it and estimates how much ink is left. Conservatively. Often, when the printer says it's low or out of ink, it really isn't. You can reset the memory on your cartridges with a paper clip. On the side of most cartridges is a pinhole reset. Just insert a paper clip and re-install the cartridge. Use it until all the ink is actually gone.

It seems logical: A medicine cabinet in the bathroom should be the perfect spot to hold over-the-counter and prescription medications and vitamins, supplements and herbal remedies. But the reality is that the bathroom is one of the least temperature- and moisture-stable rooms in the house, and heat and moisture can make medicines less effective. Instead, the best bet to store your pills is in the bedroom. Keep them in a drawer where the moisture and temperature levels are pretty consistent year-round. If you're worried about kids finding them, get a drawer lock from any home improvement store.
