Just because something's in the shower doesn't mean it stays clean. If you use one of those plastic mesh sponges to lather up when you shower, it needs to be periodically cleaned. Over time, the moisture buildup can create a breeding ground for harmful and smelly bacteria. To clean it, just toss it in the washing machine whenever you launder something that uses hot water. This will eradicate the bacteria and germs. When it's done washing, don't toss it in the dryer, just air-dry it.

In the past, if a tire got punctured, it would almost immediately go flat, which was the reason for the spare tire -- you'd always have the extra tire to replace the flat right there on the spot. But a spare tire is heavy, which weighs down the car and decreases the fuel efficiency. Tire manufacturers like Bridgestone are creating more run-flat tires that will continue to work up to 50 miles after your tire gets punctured. This gives you time to drive to a dealer and get the tire replaced. This new tire technology eliminates the need for a spare tire and can improve your car's overall fuel efficiency.

With the summer months finally here, we need to remember to help animals survive and thrive on hot days. Since natural water sources can dry up, consider putting out a shallow dish with cool water or even filling up a plastic tub and placing it outside. Birds and other small animals will flock to get a cool drink of water. And if you have a dog, it's important to avoid taking it outside between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. These are the hottest hours of the day, and surfaces like sidewalks and roadways can be too hot for its sensitive paws.
