Does your dog or his bed have fleas? If you want to find out naturally, try this trick before going to bed. Fill a shallow baking dish with water and a few squirts of dishwashing soap. Place the tray near your dog's bed. Plug in an LED nightlight and focus the light so it's shining right onto the tray of soapy water. Turn off the overhead lights and let the flea's natural instinct to go toward the light take over. In the morning, you'll know if there are fleas in your home if there are dead bugs floating in the water. The soapy water coats and kills them naturally.

An old trick of organic gardeners is to use fresh grass clippings as mulch in flowerbeds or vegetable gardens. Grass is a great natural mulch: It helps keep moisture in and blocks weeds out, and when it biodegrades, it's beneficial matter for the soil. But make sure it's organic. Since some lawns are treated with chemical fertilizers or herbicides (that target weeds but not grass), adding these to your garden could create a chemical cocktail that could kill your veggies and flowers.

We're used to looking at the expiration date on foods to know how late we can consume something, but according to Joanne Lacina, the founder of OliveOilLovers.com, we should be looking at the harvest date when it comes to buying olive oil. When an olive oil has a "best by" date, it could be anywhere between a few months or two years from the date of actual bottling. A harvest date, which also appears on olive oil bottles, tells you the exact date when the oil was pressed. This can give you a very clear indication of the age of your olive oil purchase.
