Ever wonder what to do with flat, warm, leftover beer? Give your garden a good drink. The natural yeast in beer can help with plant growth. Simply pour the beer into a watering can and add water. Pour the mixture near the base of plants, and when you're done, cultivate the soil a little bit. You can also fill an empty tuna tin with leftover beer to keep slugs away from your garden; they'll crawl in for a drink and drown, unable to get out.

In 2010, a devastating earthquake struck Haiti. More than 316,000 people died and more than 250,000 homes were destroyed. While the rebuilding process has been progressing, much still needs to be done. Thousands of Haitians are being employed by vetiver grass farms, which harvest earthy, rich oil used in high-end perfumes. To find fragrances that utilize the vetiver oils, simply search "Haitian vetiver" on e-commerce sites like Sephora.com.

For small personal electronics that use rechargeable or disposable batteries, consider taking the batteries out when you're not using the item. Digital cameras, camcorders and even laptops can drain batteries left inside, even if the electronic is turned off. By removing the battery, you're preventing phantom draining and helping to extend the life of the battery.
