Many of us are planting shrubs, trees and pallets of flowers in our yards now that the weather's a little warmer. Save the hard-to-recycle plastic tubs, containers and trays these plants come packaged in and bring them to any Lowe's home improvement store for free recycling. The store collects them and recycles them into new plastic products.

Do you have a collection of crafting beads you purchased in the hopes of making jewelry but never got around to using? Why not donate your beads to the nonprofit Beads of Courage? The organization will accept your donation of craft beads, and it will count, sort and use them to create crafting kits for children in the hospital with serious illnesses. With new studies showing crafting can be a great de-stressing activity, these simple craft kits can help a child in need. Learn more at beadsofcourage.org.

Bees are important to our natural world because they help pollinate flowers. But bees can be bothersome when you're outside. Instead of creating an insect killing spray, why not try a natural bee repellant instead? Simply fill a reusable spray bottle with witch hazel oil and add a few drops of tea tree oil. Shake the bottle and spray the solution on your skin whenever you go outdoors. The medicinal smell from the witch hazel is obnoxious to bees (and other insects) and will encourage them to stay away from you ... naturally.
