If you find yourself driving in the middle of farmland with nowhere to, well, relieve yourself, look for the nearest field of corn, tomatoes or cucumber. A Finnish study showed that human urine is a remarkable natural fertilizer for these crops because urine is rich in nitrogen, potassium and phosphate -- all ingredients plants love. In fact, tomato plants that were fertilized with urine produced 4.2 more tomatoes than plants that were grown traditionally. Whether or not you try this in your own garden, it's good to remember natural ways to fertilize are always better than chemically produced ways.

Here's a fun experiment to try at home with a leftover garlic clove: Grow a new garlic plant. Fill a small pot with potting soil, and stick the garlic clove into the soil so the root end is immersed and the top part is right below the surface. Water the plant and place it in a warm, sunlit spot in the house like a windowsill. In a few weeks, the garlic clove will start growing new shoots. Over time, the clove will multiply until you have a whole new garlic bulb.

Dry cleaning can be problematic because many cleaners still use harsh chemicals, clothes get wrapped in plastic and hung with disposable hangers, and it can cost a lot of money. To cut down on your dry cleaning, take a moment to look at the labels of your clothes and sort labels that read "dry clean only" from those labeled simply "dry clean." The ones marked "dry clean only" should be cared for by a professional, while those marked "dry clean" can be washed at home in a delicate cycle and hung to dry.
