Microwave ovens have become common staples in homes, offices and dorm rooms as an easy way to heat up food. But the inside of many can be a disgusting mess, with old spaghetti sauce splatters and encrusted food covering the walls. A nontoxic way to clean up the inside in a jiffy is quite easy. Fill a microwave-safe bowl with 1 cup white vinegar and 1 cup tap water. Microwave on high for 10 minutes, and allow the cleaning mixture to steam clean the inside. Wipe the microwave with a towel, and it's as good as new.

Here are some easy tips to keep perishable food fresh longer so you can save food and money from going into the trash. When buying fresh mushrooms, leave them in paper bags, not plastic -- plastic doesn't breath and can collect moisture, causing mildew. Speaking of mildew, when something goes bad in your fridge, toss it out and clean up your fridge. By wiping down the interior surfaces with an antimicrobial microfiber towel and natural cleaner, you'll prevent spores from attaching to other perishable food inside your fridge.

Want to keep mice away and onions fresh for months? Grab some old pantyhose, and drop a whole onion into the leg and tie a knot. Repeat with more onions until you fill both legs. Tie a large knot at top, and hang the hose somewhere dark and cool, like under the basement stairs. Just snip the onion free with scissors when you need it. The individually ventilated onions will stay fresh for months, and it is a natural rodent deterrent. Mice and other rodents do not like the smell of onions and will steer clear.
