If you're one of the 92 percent of Americans who want to know if the food they are eating and serving contains genetically modified (GMO) foods, visit the advocacy site JustLabelIt.org. This site is a forum where people gather to learn more about GMO food and what they can do pressure the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to change its policy, which states that food does not need to be labeled regarding GMO content.

If your iron is dragging instead of gliding, don't toss it. Try this simple cleaning trick instead. Mix one part salt with one part white vinegar in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for about 30 seconds. Stir to dissolve the salt, dip a cotton rag in the mixture and rub the bottom of your iron vigorously. This should remove residue that is causing the dragging and give your iron a clean, almost-new shine.

Here's a new use for your garlic press: Use it to crush herbs. You can buy whole seeds like black pepper, cumin and coriander, and place them in the hopper of your garlic press. When you press, they'll crack and break into a finer consistency, perfect for whatever you're planning to cook up that night.
