Here's a new use for your garlic press: Use it to crush herbs. You can buy whole seeds like black pepper, cumin and coriander, and place them in the hopper of your garlic press. When you press, they'll crack and break into a finer consistency, perfect for whatever you're planning to cook up that night.

We've all heard that plastic six-pack rings are murder to marine wildlife, which can get caught in the rings and choke. While we know snipping the rings with scissors can prevent this tragedy, try being even more green at the grocery store: Don't buy six-packs at all. Choose soda in recyclable aluminum cans that are boxed in 12 or 24 packs, which come without plastic rings.

Do you not know what to do with an old bridesmaid dress, cocktail dress or special occasion jewelry? Give it a whole new life through the nonprofit DonateMyDress.org. DonateMyDress.org is the first national campaign to collect lightly worn formal wear to give to girls who cannot afford to purchase a dress for a special occasion like a prom or formal. It's a simple way to bring some glamour into a girl's life.
