Many people like to boil a kettle of water to make a fresh cup of tea. If you’re like me, you always end up with extra boiled water in the pot that goes wasted. Use that hot water to sterilize your toothbrushes while your cup of tea steeps. Simply hold your brush and pour some hot water over the bristles. This will kill the bacteria.

Running errands today? Try doing them back-to-back to save gas. When you start up a car that has a warm engine, it pollutes five times less than one that hasn't been driven recently. And if you stop at a strip mall where you need to make two stops, try parking between both stores and walking to each one instead of driving to both stores.

Ever wonder what to do with an old kitchen sponge? Here's an energy-saving idea: Use it to make your window air conditioning unit more energy efficient. Cut the dry sponge into strips, and use it to plug the gaps between your air conditioner and window. This will keep hot air outdoors and cool air indoors.
