Did you know most people throw away their tubes of toothpaste with 10 to 15 percent of the minty stuff still in there? One way to squeeze out every last drop is to grab a bobby pin and use it to force out the paste. Clip the pin at the end, and push it up -- the last of the toothpaste will come out. When you get to the top, you'll know you're done with the tube for real.

When upgrading your computer or buying new software for your computer, why not try high-speed downloads instead of compact discs? More than 30 billion software discs are sold annually, most of which end up in a junk drawer or, worse, a landfill. Most software manufacturers now sell or license their products through their websites for quick and easy downloading. The best part? You'll have a backup version you can access for free if you need to reinstall.

Many of us consider our dogs and cats extended members of our family. While we know to keep dangerous things like chocolates and certain plants away from them, there are some other common household items to be aware of, according to the ASPCA. Take extra care to keep wine away from animals -- it can cause illness and even coma. Don't leave burning candles unattended: Kittens are attracted to the flickering flames. And if you have a dog that makes a habit of drinking out of the toilet, use non-toxic cleaning products in the bathroom.
