The next time you see fruit flies or other insects flying around the inside of your home, resist the urge to grab insecticide, and use rubbing alcohol instead. Fill a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol and squirt the insects. It will kill them without putting harmful chemicals into the air.

Have you ever thought about how clean the inside of your car is? Many of us never really clean the inside, even though our car is like a second home. Some studies have shown that cars can harbor mold, mildew, bacteria and high levels of unhealthy volatile organic compounds -- mostly due to those artificial car fresheners dangling from the rearview mirror. To detox your car, mix a solution of half rubbing alcohol and half water, and wipe the surfaces down with a microfiber towel. This should sanitize the inside and keep you and your family healthy.

Here's a great tip from the Cookware Manufacturers Association to get marred or dirty cookware sparkling clean again. Put a solution of half white vinegar and half water in your pot or pan. Simmer over low heat for a few minutes, then rinse. For extremely tough stains, soak the solution for a few hours, and rinse with warm, soapy water before using the cookware.
