Many of us soak our cookware in water for several hours or overnight to loosen baked-on food to make cleanup easier. While that does work, it can warp the pan over time, making it defective and difficult to use. To protect your cookware investment, allow your frypan to cool to room temperature, then immerse it in water for several minutes. That should be enough soaking time to make cleanup a breeze without risking any damage to the pan.

When driving on multilane highways, the best place to drive is the middle lane: It gives you the option to pass slower cars and allows other cars to pass you or merge to exit the highway. The less you have to quickly accelerate and decelerate, the better your fuel efficiency will be in the long run.

Whenever you can cut back on paper usage, no matter how small, it adds up over time. Try selecting “no receipt” at the ATM when you withdraw cash; don’t print out a boarding pass at home for your flight, just send it straight to your smartphone; email yourself your grocery list instead of jotting it down on paper and read it off your phone instead. Little paperless decisions definitely add up.
