Here's my easy way to keep toilets sparkling clean without the use of chemicals. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of borax and 1/2 cup of white vinegar into the toilet bowl and leave it for a full 60 minutes before scrubbing. The mixture will bubble and naturally remove stains and odors. Scrub it with a brush and flush away. You can also put two denture cleaner tablets into the bowl and leave it overnight to remove stubborn stains like mineral buildups.

The next time you make salad dressing, you can whip up an eco-friendly cleaner for glass, too. Just mix one part water, one part white vinegar and squeeze in half a lemon. Pour the concoction into a spray bottle. Shake it up, spray it all over your glass and mirrored surfaces and wipe it off with a cotton rag or sheets of newspaper. Just keep in mind that since the mixture is perishable, you'll need to use it up within 24 hours. But its lemony fresh smell will make you want to clean, clean, clean until it's all gone!

While it isn't courteous to show up at a holiday party empty-handed, the reality is that many gifts go unused, unopened and eventually end up in the landfill. So this holiday season, bring something perishable. Ask the host or hostess what item you can bring to their party. It can be a good bottle of wine, a tray of cookies or a side dish for their party. No mess, no waste and everyone can enjoy your tasty treat.
