Little bars of hotel soap are one of those things we all seem to collect and never use at home. Here's a luxurious idea: Use a metal grater to turn the bars into soap flakes and draw yourself a bubble bath. Sprinkle the flakes into a running bath and then say, "Ahh."

At your local supermarket, if you weigh your own produce and place the printed price label on your bag of organic veggies, always be sure to enter the code for "organic." Do not choose the usually cheaper "conventional" price and try to get away with it. These UPC codes help the stores keep track of what sells and what doesn't; if they see organic produce isn't selling, they'll stop stocking it.

Paper recycling has become more common these days, but not all paper is the same. One problem that paper-recycling plants have been facing lately are old photographs being tossed into the mix with office paper and magazines. Unfortunately, photographs contain a thin layer of polythene, which is the coating on top that gives you a gloss or matte finish. This can clog paper-recycling machines. When in doubt, it's better to toss rather than try to recycle.
