Tropical destinations often mean local wildlife like birds and small mammals begging for food from hotel guests along the beach or at restaurants. While it may be charming to feed them your leftover croissant, it can lead to behavior that destroys their natural instincts to hunt and gather. Just enjoy the animals and shoo them away.

A simple and eco-friendly way to make place markers for your next party is to look no further than your own backyard. Grab some large leaves and write guest names on front using nontoxic craft glue. Then sprinkle sand on top as glitter and let dry. When the party is over, they can be safely tossed into the compost bin instead of the trash.
