A simple and eco-friendly way to make place markers for your next party is to look no further than your own backyard. Grab some large leaves and write guest names on front using nontoxic craft glue. Then sprinkle sand on top as glitter and let dry. When the party is over, they can be safely tossed into the compost bin instead of the trash.

Traveling during the summer months often means jamming your suitcase with as much clothing as possible. For many people, it's like dragging your entire closet to your destination! If you're someone who wears only a small percentage of what you pack, consider taking less on your next journey to help cut back on fuel.

If you've amassed a massive collection of wine corks, here's a fun upcycling idea: Turn them into a functional bath mat. Pick up a large shadowbox frame from the craft store, which is about the size of a bath mat. Then remove the clear front cover; fill it with corks standing upright until the entire box is full, not completely jammed. That's it! Cork is naturally absorbent, soft to the touch and anti-microbial.
