Here's a gardening trick to lighten the load and help your plants thrive: Recycle packing peanuts in container gardens. Fill your potting containers with a few inches of polystyrene packing peanuts (save them whenever you get packages in the mail) and then fill with potting soil on top. This will help lighten the load of the pot, making it easier to move around; it will also help with drainage to keep your plants healthy and happy.

Consider picking one or two days a week to go vegetarian with your meal choices. There are differing answers as to just how many gallons of water it takes to produce one pound of beef. But there is no question that it takes more water to produce one pound of beef than it takes to produce, say, one pound of potatoes. Choosing some plant-based options now and then in lieu of meat can go a long way in helping conserve our natural resources.

The company Recyclebank wants to reward you for thinking green and buying organic at the supermarket or making sure to recycle. According to the company's website, you simply choose a green action you want to be rewarded for and each time Recyclebank confirms that you've done it, either through a points code or by recycling, you'll be given Recyclebank Points. These points can be used for rewards at local and national retailers and online. Major organic food companies like Kashi and Earthbound Farm have partnered with Recyclebank to give customers rewards. Go to www.recyclebank.com for more information.
