In a throwaway society, it's almost too easy to fill up a trash can every week. One interactive activity you can do as a family is to give each family member a used small paper bag (the size of a fast food takeout bag) and challenge everyone to only throw away their trash for one day into that little bag. While it may be challenging, it also reminds us that we need to try harder to be less wasteful.

Keep a disposable plastic shopping bag from the grocery store in your pricey handbag to help protect your investment. That way, you'll be prepared to whip out the plastic bag to cover your designer purse so rain, sleet or snow doesn't ruin it.
