A real Christmas tree doesn't have to be tossed to the curb right away. If you have the land to do it, place the evergreen tree on its side in the woods where it can decompose naturally. It'll become a natural habitat for wildlife, a nursery for beneficial insects and help shelter wild birds from the harsh elements of winter.
