Wine lovers, listen up. Save up all those corks from your bottles of chardonnay and use them for something good. ReCORK by Amorim wants your corks so they can be recycled into new footwear. Through its partnership with footwear manufacturer, SOLE, the ReCORK program will make good use of your 100 percent natural and recyclable old wine corks. Visit recork.org to find a drop-off location near you.

When drying towels and bedding, throw in two tennis balls; the balls will help fluff the towels and bedding to speed up drying. This will keep them softer and less wrinkly. It also saves money because you won't need to invest in fabric softener sheets.

To protect your growing plants in the garden from a cold, harsh, unexpected frost, reach into your recycling bin and fish out a plastic water bottle. Cut off the bottom of the bottle (about 1 inch from the bottom) and place the cut side into the ground, surrounding the seedling. The water bottle will act as a greenhouse of sorts and protect the seedling from the frost. When the threat of frost is over, remove the bottle and recycle it as you normally would.
