Whether it's organic or conventional, vintage or new, it's the quality of clothes that matter when shopping for new duds. Poorly made clothes that fall apart quickly are never a green choice because they need to be replaced more frequently. When buying new clothes and accessories, look for pieces that will last for the long haul -- not "cheap chic" disposable pieces.

For many people, a microwave is a daily necessity for food preparation. Make a habit of cleaning the inside of the microwave, especially right after any food splatters while heating. A dirty microwave can be a breeding ground for mold, so make sure to wipe it down with a damp microfiber towel to get it clean.

If you've ever moved and shopped for cardboard boxes, you know how expensive they can be. Consider reselling your old cardboard boxes online through Craigslist at the end of the month, when most people move. You can make a few dollars per box and literally help your old boxes find a new home.
