Rescue an empty Altoids candy tin and recycle it into a portable first aid kit. Fill it with Band-Aids, a travel size packet of aspirin, antibacterial wipes, cold sore cream or anything else that'll fit into the box. Make a few and stash them in the car, your luggage and at the office.

Today's the day to go the extra distance: Bike to work, make a generous donation to an environmental charity, plant a tree with the family, start a vegetarian diet, or any other major green commitment you've been thinking of doing. Give it a try and join millions of others celebrating this wonderful planet. Start a blog and write about making a big green change so you can inspire others and they can start a dialogue, too.

In preparation for Earth Day, share a few of the Do Just One Thing tips you've read in this column and type them up in an e-mail to friends and colleagues -- and be sure to tell them where you heard them! Pick your top 10 and send it out with a note reminding others that tomorrow is Earth Day and they, too, should try to Do Just One Thing.
