Boxed wines used to get snubbed by true vino lovers, but the eco tide seems to be turning. Well-respected winemakers are turning to Terra Pax packaging because it uses less energy to make than traditional glass bottles and weighs significantly less, giving the consumers more wine for their dollar. The best part? Boxed wines can easily be resealed, extending the shelf life of an opened "box" far longer than an uncorked glass bottle.

Stop overdosing your washing machine! We often think that adding extra laundry detergent is better than adding less. But with formulas becoming much more concentrated and machines more efficient, it means excess detergent can linger on our clothes. Ironically, that film of detergent on the clothes can actually attract dirt, making your clean clothes dirtier more quickly. When in doubt, use a bit less.

Many like to decorate their porches and decks with area rugs, since the outside is becoming an extension of our home. But indoor rugs used outdoors can be problematic; they aren't waterproof and can quickly develop mold and mildew and then get tossed to landfills. Instead, invest in true outdoor rugs, which are water-resistant and can be easily washed with a hose. They'll last for many seasons and give you the look and comfort of an area rug.
