We've all heard that plastic six-pack rings are murder to marine wildlife, which can get caught in the rings and choke. While we all know snipping the rings with scissors can prevent this, you can go one step further in being green when picking up soda at the grocery store: don't buy six-pack rings at all. Choose soda in easily recyclable aluminum cans that are boxed in 12 or 24 packs, which come without plastic rings. The more you buy the more money you'll likely save, too.

If you're registering for gifts for a wedding, housewarming or any festive occasion, it's easy to get greedy when choosing gifts at the department store. Remind yourself to not let it go to your head. Register for items that you truly need, not just stuff you think you want. Think quality over quantity and encourage people to pool their money together to get you one fabulous gift instead of 20 things you'll probably never, ever use.

You're green and didn't even know it: It used to be that if you wanted to watch a movie, it meant getting in the car and driving to the local rental store. When the movie needed to be returned, it meant getting back in the car and dropping it off (usually at 11:45 p.m. to beat the midnight deadline). But with the convenience of online rental services like Netflix and Blockbuster, you skip all the driving, since the postman just delivers the movie to your house. And there's no waste since the envelope your DVD comes in is also the return mailer.
