When traveling down the highway on a road trip, you might think keeping the windows rolled down is the greenest way to stay cool. On the contrary, keeping the windows rolled up when going at fast speeds helps maintain the aerodynamics of your car, making it more fuel efficient in the process. So stay cool and don't feel bad about turning on your air conditioning.

If you're in the market for a new mattress, think natural latex. Latex is tapped from the rubber tree, making it a green and renewable resource. But its inherent properties are healthy, too: It's naturally dust-mite, mold- and mildew-resistant. Plus, the natural latex absorbs shock and conforms to the shape of your body for a truly comfortable sleep. Check out my own line of mattresses at naturalcarebed.com.

If you're spending time at the beach, make sure you do a few simple things to keep your environmental footprint as light as possible. First, choose an all-organic, plant-based sunscreen to wear; when you frolic in the water, most sunscreens (even waterproof ones) will leave some residual waste in our oceans. A biodegradable one won't disturb the delicate ecosystems of the ocean. Finally, at the end of the day, make sure you tap all the excess sand out of your shoes and bags; with millions of people visiting our beaches annually, a little sand here and there really does add up to serious beach erosion.
