When you upgrade to a new computer, laptop or printer, you can now easily recycle your old one at any Staples store (regardless if you bought it from there) for just $10 per each large item. Smaller electronic peripherals -- like keyboards and speakers -- are recycled free of charge. All equipment is bagged and sealed. All data is destroyed and the components are recycled.

Rescue an empty Altoid candy tin and recycle it into a portable first aid kit. Fill it with Band-Aids, a travel size packet of Aspirin, antibacterial towelettes, cold sore cream or anything else that'll fit in the box. Make a few and stash them in the car, your luggage and at the office.

Try to stop junk mail from being sent to you in the first place. Whenever you order something online, be sure to read the page prompts carefully before hitting "Submit Order." Most online stores will ask you to check a box if you do not want to be solicited with e-mails and mailers for special promotions. Since many of us are so computer savvy now, we often skip through the prompts quickly and neglect to check the box, therefore agreeing to junk mail. Check it in order to stop it.
