Before mowing down a patch of wildflowers to plant a perfectly manicured bed of roses, think about leaving it be. A patch of wildflowers and grasses can be tamed easily by mowing neatly around the edges to frame it in or by mowing pathways through the field in a crisscross pattern. Use natural trellises, arches and edging to tame the wild, flowery beast, too.

If you're in the market to buy a new car, thinking fuel-efficient hybrid would obviously be the way to go. But there are other simple things you can do, too, like choosing the right paint color. A lighter-color car is a smarter choice since it deflects heats, helping your car stay cooler in the summer months. A darker color absorbs more heat, which takes longer to cool down.

Germs be gone! When you need to disinfect a kitchen or bathroom countertop of germs and bacteria, don't reach for toxic chlorine bleach. Instead, grab some cotton balls and douse them in rubbing alcohol and rub away. The alcohol will kill the germs and bacteria on contact and will evaporate quickly.
