Old costume jewelry can be donated to support a worthy cause. The nonprofit I Have Wings supports women with breast cancer and their families through a variety of assistance programs. The old jewelry is cleaned, repaired and disinfected, then sold through an annual Spring Bling fundraiser. Proceeds are used to support I Have Wing's charitable work. Learn more at ihavewings.org.

Your washing machine needs routine cleaning to help keep your clothing clean. When you wash things like dirty kitchen towels and heavily stained clothes, germs and bacteria can linger and grow inside the washing machine. This is even truer if you wash only in cold water. Laundry detergent isn't designed to sanitize, but to clean clothes. To sanitize your washing machine, pour a cup of bleach and run a full wash cycle using hot water with an empty drum.

The next time you open a can of garbanzo beans, don't throw away the water in the can. The fiber-rich water is actually a fantastic plant-based egg replacer for baking. It's called "aquafaba," and it can be used in a variety of recipes. To replace one egg when baking, use 3 tablespoons of aquafaba. You can soak dried chickpeas and use the residual water as aquafaba, too.
