It's estimated that a small leak in your home -- a drip in a faucet or a constantly running toilet -- can produce up to 10,000 gallons of wasted water a year. That's enough to fill a backyard swimming pool. While it's imperative to look for and replace leaks at home, remember to report drips, leaks and running toilets you find in public spaces, too. Hotel room bathrooms, public restrooms and the facilities at your local health club are all places where leaks can be stopped. Every little bit helps to protect this valuable natural resource from running out.

Here are some simple ways to reuse old nail polish: Vibrant hues can be used to paint different keys different colors; think deep for the front door, purple for the mailbox, etc. Torn window screens can be mended using clear nail polish -- just apply it and let it dry. You won't be able to see where you've applied the polish! Trying to thread a needle can be challenging. Make it easier by dipping the thread end in nail polish to make it stiff and easy to fit through the needle's eye.

Did you know that white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide are natural products that are also great disinfectants? If germs and cross-contamination concern you, keep these items on hand. Rub hydrogen peroxide on cutting boards to clean germs away; if the board has stains, add lemon juice and salt to scrub the surface. And for kitchen countertops, use white vinegar to disinfect them and keep them looking clean.
