Many of us use a plastic sponge in the shower when using body wash, but we never think: Do we need to clean something that helps us get squeaky clean? Those nylon mesh sponges can be a breeding ground for bacteria over time, so follow these steps to keep them clean: Every eight weeks or so, toss them into your washing machine and launder them with white clothes or sheets anytime you decide to use chlorine bleach. The bleach will disinfect them. Remove from the washer and air dry. Good as new!

Here's a money-saving tip to try when the air gets colder outside: Turn your thermostat down just 1 degree. It's a temperature change that no one will really notice, but by saving that small amount of energy, you'll save money on your utility bill during the fall and winter months. And like your dad always said: If you feel chilly, put on a sweater.

Here's a simple way to upcycle a grocery store bag into a Halloween treat tote: Just paint the entire outside of a brown paper bag with chalkboard paint. Then the kids can customize the front with chalk and draw whatever they want on it, like ghosts or a scary BOO!
