Spring means it will be several months before you'll need to light a fire in the fireplace to warm up the house. Take the time to double-check that the flue to the fireplace is properly closed. Keeping it open is like having a small window open in the house; it can also be an unwelcome invitation to wildlife to accidentally enter your home.

Gas prices are escalating at an alarming rate, so today's the day to do everything you can to help make your car as efficient as possible. Check the trunk and back seats for unnecessary items that are adding weight to the car and remove them. Drive your car to the gas station and make sure the air pressure in all your tires is at the recommended level; add air if needed. And always top off the gas tank each time you visit the filling station; the fewer trips you need to make there, the more mpg you can add to your overall bottom line.

Any smart shopper will tell you that supermarket circulars feature terrific deals and money-saving coupons. As organic food becomes more mainstream, major chains like Whole Foods are putting out weekly circulars that promote specific products with significant savings and coupons. Just because you're not shopping at a conventional market doesn't mean you can't still save like you are!
