GOODWILL WEEK: According to Goodwill International, donating a functioning lamp to your local store is about equal to giving someone in need about 10 minutes of career counseling. This statistic is based on the average sale price a lamp brings to Goodwill, where approximately 83 percent of the revenue generated goes "directly into employment and training programs for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment!"

GOODWILL WEEK: If you've ever wondered what impact your donation of lightly used clothes and household items can have to help those in need, Goodwill has an online tool to give you a snapshot of how you've contributed. Just visit donate.goodwill.org and tally up all the items you've donated to see how many hours of career counseling you've provided to those who need it most.

GOODWILL WEEK: When donating clothes and household items to your local Goodwill store, be sure to donate them when the center is open and accepting donations. Leaving items outside the drop-off site could lead to theft of donated goods, or worse, damage by bad weather. Always call ahead to find out the best times to come and donate.
