When parking in a crowded lot, pull into a spot that you see right away instead of circling the lot over and over looking for a spot closer to the entrance. Driving around searching for a slightly closer spot wastes fuel and can actually waste more time than just parking a little farther away and walking.

When driving on multilane highways, the best place to drive is the middle lane; it gives you the option to pass slower cars and allows other cars to pass you or merge to enter and exit the highway. The less you have to quickly accelerate and decelerate, the better your fuel efficiency will be in the long run.

Vow to have a car-free day with your family, like a weekend day or holiday, where you'll spend the entire day at home instead of driving somewhere to do something. By breaking the habit that you have to drive somewhere every day, you'll be able to tackle home repair projects, get that backlist of chores completed or even just watch a movie together as a family ... at home.
