Bottle caps from shampoo, soda, water, juice and detergent bottles often end up strewn in oceans because of their small size and the lack of nationwide recycling programs. Yes, these caps do need to be separated from their plastic bottles before recycling, but they don't have to be tossed in the trash. Just bring them to any Aveda store to be recycled free of charge through their Caps with Aveda program.

Millions of pounds of paper could be saved if everyone chose this option. Some companies are even rewarding customers with prizes, discounts and even cash to go green.

If you make a habit of burning presentations or data onto CDs or DVDs and overnighting them because the files are too large to e-mail, think about using an online file server system instead.
