Visit local food providers, bakeries and wine shops for the tastiest treats you can find and bring back. Pick up handmade pottery, crafts and jewelry in off-the-beaten-path stores and community fairs. Support local businesses and help everyone maintain their city's identity.

If you're traveling to a major city, take the time to learn about public transportation options and download walking directions to and from meetings. Not only is taking cabs everywhere expensive and bad for global warming, it can be a real time-drain during peak travel hours. Save time, save money and save the environment by commuting like a local.

Rescue an empty Altoids candy tin and recycle it into a portable first aid kit. Fill it with Band-Aids, a travel size packet of aspirin, antibacterial wipes, cold sore cream or anything else that'll fit into the box. Make a few and stash them in the car, your luggage and at the office.
