A nice gift to share with guests at your holiday party is a small, live tree. Pick up evergreen trees from your local nursery and wrap them in squares of burlap. Tie a ribbon around them and attach the growing instructions (usually included with each tree). Leave them outdoors and let guests help themselves. In the spring, they can plant them in their own yard.

If you're going away for a long holiday break, be sure to unplug your major electronics from the outlet. Unplug TVs, DVD players and stereo equipment to stop wasting electricity. Even when turned "off," these electronics are still using power. Why waste money when you know you're going to be gone? Save the environment and some cash by unplugging them.

If you're making a donation to charity this holiday season, consider putting a stamp on the return envelope, even if it says "postage paid." The charity will save money from not having to pay for the postage and it will be able to allocate that extra savings to its charitable works.
