Have you ever seen a large turtle in the middle of the road and wondered if you should help relocate it so it doesn’t get smashed by a car? Wildlife experts agree that if you can safely help, you should. Some turtles –- the snapping turtle, for instance -- can injure you, so care must be taken so you don’t get hurt. First, make sure your car is safely parked. Then use something like a floor mat from your car and nudge the turtle onto it. Drag the mat (with the turtle facing the opposite direction) off the road and out of harm’s way.
