Ann Coulter
Political analyst and attorney Ann Coulter has been dubbed "the Abbie Hoffman of the Right" for her unabashed satirical commentary and her savage barbs on the Washington scene and the media world.
Despite fiery critical debate about the tone and content of her book "Godless: The Church of Liberalism," it reached the No.1 spot on Amazon only two days after its release. "Godless" examines liberalism in the context of a religion and is Coulter's fifth-best-selling book. Others are "Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism," "Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right," "High Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Case Against Bill Clinton," and "How to talk to a Liberal (If You Must)." According to Coulter: "The thesis of Godless is: Liberalism IS a religion. The liberal religion has its own cosmology, its own explanation for why we are here, its own gods, its own clergy. The basic tenet of liberalism is that nature is god and men are monkeys. (Except not as pure-hearted as actual monkeys, who don't pollute, make nukes or believe in God.)" Ben Shapiro of Townhall.com says, "Coulter isn't simply a terrific writer who makes it impossible to drink while reading her work (this produces the famed "Coulter milk-out-the-nose phenomenon). She is also a scholar" Harper's Bazaar described Coulter as "obsessed with protecting civil liberties and free speech." Called "one of the most popular pundits on MSNBC," Coulter has appeared on the following shows: ABC's "This Week," "Good Morning America," NBC's "Today Show," "Real Time with Bill Maher," CNN's "Larry King Live," CNBC's "Rivera Live" and "Equal Time," among others. She also has been profiled in such diverse publications as The Washington Post, National Journal, New York magazine, TV Guide and Capital Style. A graduate of Cornell University (with honors) and the University of Michigan Law School, Coulter has worked as an attorney at the Center for Individual Rights (a conservative, public interest law firm), served as legal counsel to Sen. Spencer Abraham on the Senate Judiciary Committee and worked as an attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice. She also has practiced corporate law and clerked for the Eighth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. Her newspaper column is distributed nationally by Universal Press Syndicate. Coulter writes a weekly legal column in the influential conservative weekly Human Events in which she discusses judicial rulings, constitutional issues and legal matters affecting Congress and the executive branch. She is a native of New Canaan, Conn.
